Charges Versus Convictions

Sealed Versus Restricted Records
Georgia often uses the term record restriction for what many people call expungement. Restriction can limit public access to eligible criminal-history records, especially non-convictions, dismissed charges, and cases covered by a court order. Sealing is a court-controlled access limit that can hide filings or whole cases from ordinary public inspection. Neither term means every government file disappears.
